And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: 12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; 14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. 2 Chronicles 5:11-14 KJV
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. 2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. 3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 Chronicles 7:1-3 KJV
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4 KJV
1. The Glory of God – Old Covenant.
a. Under the Old Covenant, the glory of the Lord was manifested as a cloud.
b. A cloud is an accumulation of moisture.
c. Depending on the season and pressure systems moving across the USA, clouds will form: mist; dew; rain; sleet; hail; snow; etc.
d. As air rises it cools and decreases pressure, spreading out. Clouds form when the air cools below the dew point, and the air cannot hold as much water vapor.
e. Under the Old Covenant people visibly saw the glory of the Lord.
f. Exodus 13:21 KJV – “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.”
g. The pillars of cloud (cool) and fire (warm) gave direction and guidance.
2. The Glory of God – New Covenant.
a. Under the Old Covenant the presence of God – the anointing – lived in a tabernacle made with hands.
b. The Ark of the Covenant.
c. Hebrews 9:11 KJV – “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.”
3. Treasure in Earthen Vessels.
a. 2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV – “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
b. Under the New Covenant, the presence of the Lord lives within the believer.
c. You are the vessel.
d. We are vessels of God’s grace – His presence – we are carriers of His Glory.
e. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV – “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
f. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 KJV – “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
g. Hebrew word: kabowd (kaw-bode’) the weight of the glory.
h. Also means splendor or copiousness.
4. Revival.
a. When the revival first broke out.
b. April 1989 – upstate New York.
c. Tuesday morning the glory rolled in.
d. Lady saw the glory of God like a thick fog.
e. I did not see it, but I felt it.
f. Like a blanket.
g. Like warm honey.
h. Like someone wrapping their arms around you.
i. The Glory is here now!
